Death...Natures greatest predator (title by Adam Spackman)

Every year we go on a camping trip for the deer hunt with Adam's family. I've been going with them since we first started dating, but this tradition has been happening every year since the 1920's! Yes, over 80 years of tradition going on here. Usually we just call it the Great American Candy Fest since no one really hunts, and we sit and eat tons of candy for 5 straight days. However, every once and awhile someone does decide to get a deer tag, but it doesnt normally result in a deer. This year was different. Adam, his brother Austin, and cousin Taylor all received their deer tags, and tagging along with them were his brothers Kyle & Derek, and dad Dave. Luckily they all went because they broke tradition on not only hunting but getting a deer - they got TWO!!

Adam got a 2 point and Austin a 3 point. They both were excited when they shot them, however, everyone agrees that getting a deer is a lot more work then not. With cleaning, skinning, and transport - it was hard for the six of them to carry 2 deers over 3 miles off the mountain. I'm pretty sure no one will be "hunting" next year. They spent all their fun tickets!! ;)

  1. How fun!! I love that there is a little dog there smelling the deer. What a fun tradition! And 80 years is a long time! Glad you posted about it!
